History

RP Solutions’ history began over 20 years ago with a company called Compusist.

Founded in 1983 in Dryden, NY, Compusist developed an ATM balancing system as well as a line of item and remittance processing software products known as CAPRS (Compusist Application Parameterized Remittance Software). CAPRS was marketed exclusively through NCR Corporation and was known for its flexibility and customization capability. It was used by commercial & savings banks; credit unions; municipal, city & county governments; utility companies; insurance agencies; and lockbox providers. David Johnson, President, RP Solutions, Inc. began his remittance processing career as a software engineer with Compusist.

As a strategic NCR partner, Compusist was closely aligned with NCR’s financial division in Waterloo, Canada. While their applications were originally developed for the NCR 7770 item processing transport, Compusist was a strategic partner in developing subsequent hardware releases. In fact, Compusist introduced the industry’s first image based remittance processing software for the NCR 7780 platform.

In 1994 Compusist was purchased by NCR. Shortly thereafter, in 1995, David Johnson and an experienced core technical team left NCR to found RP Solutions, Inc. in Dryden, NY. RP Solutions created a new line of enhanced CAPRS software for ATM deposit balancing and item and remittance processing, based on the highly successful Compusist/NCR packages. As an NCR Value Added Reseller, the company’s applications were integrated and sold on NCR equipment exclusively.

In 1999, RP Solutions, now located in Ithaca NY, leveraged its extensive design expertise and item processing legacy to create its own next generation products on an innovative system architecture. The resulting products were web-enabled, platform independent and scalable.
